Introductory Workshop: Recognizing Anti-Palestinian Racism and Creating an Environment of Understanding

The One-time Introductory Workshop is an interactive introductory virtual workshop designed to be a 90-minute meeting that brings together the community.

Get to know Palestinian people, culture and history and the cultural wealth that they possess.

Describe and identify anti-Palestinian racism (APR), in civil society, and look at its human impacts including on health and wellness.

Begin to examine ways we can help the institute align, to create a culture, environment and perhaps changes that confront and reduce APR where it exists within the community, inside institutions and in society.

About IUAPR

The Institute for the Understanding of Anti-Palestinian Racism (IUAPR) consists of researchers, physicians, psychologists, and legal, anti-racist and communication experts who are committed to empirically researching, educating and advocating on the impact of anti-Palestinian racism on individuals and communities across all sectors of society.

You are not alone.

IUAPR's groundbreaking survey reveals harmful effects of anti-Palestinian racism on both Palestinians and non-Palestinians:

Anti-Palestinian racism affects both Palestinians (27% of survey respondents) and non-Palestinians (73% of respondents). Distinct from Islamophobia, 61% of the respondents were Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, no religion or other religions.

Prevalent in the most significant sectors of society including schools, work, healthcare settings & public spaces.

75% of respondents reported feeling isolated and alone.

55% of respondents reported feeling afraid.

>70% of all respondents (and >75% of students, faculty, teachers and education administrators) reported mental and physical health effects from anti-Palestinian racism.
