Join UUJME for this month's Palestine/Israel 101 teach-in, this time with presenters Farrell Brody and Fadi Suleiman, Jewish and Palestinian leaders of Jewish Voice for Peace Central Ohio. They will share their experiences in Israel and Palestine and talk about their opposition to the ideology of Zionism. In the current time of increasing official suppression of first amendment rights, we must preserve spaces where people can talk about this topic and insist that it is not antisemitic to hold this viewpoint.

About the presenters:
Farrell Brody has a bachelor’s degree in English from Franklin & Marshall College, and two master's degrees, one from the Instituto de Filología Hispánica (Mexico), and another from the University of New Mexico. He has lived and taught English and Spanish in Israel, Mexico, and the United States for more than 60 years. For 18 years, he taught ESL to international students and English Composition and Spanish to U.S. students in Ohio. He was a member of the New Jewish Agenda and one of the founders of the Jewish Voice for Peace Central Ohio chapter. He was a Zionist in the mid 50s/early 60s until realizing the truth and becoming an activist for Palestinian liberation ever since.
Some may remember Farrell as one of four panelists on stage during the UUA 2016 General Assembly promoting the proposed business resolution brought by UUs for Justice in the Middle East asking for the UUA Investing Committee to maintain an investment screen that would screen out companies enabling the occupation. The resolution did not achieve the required 67% but did achieve a 54% affirmative vote by delegates. Knowledge of UUs since then has certainly evolved, and a coalition achieved passage by 74% of delegates of the 2024 UUA GA Action of Immediate Witness "Solidarity with Palestinians" which included a call for teach-ins and a statement that we much acknowledge the harmful impacts of Zionism.
Fadi Suleiman is a Palestinian-American. He was born and lived in Palestine until he was 18 years old. Fadi studied Industrial and Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University and worked at Honda North America for 13 years in various engineering and management roles. Currently, residing in Dublin, Ohio, with his wife (Stasia) and two kids (Aya and Hamza), he is an active member of Jewish Voice for Peace in Central Ohio, member of the Noor Islamic Cultural Center, and has held several speaking engagements at various churches in Central Ohio.
